Mao Dun Literature Prize
The Mao Dun Literature Prize ( Chinese茅盾文学奖 / 茅盾文學獎, Máo Dùn wénxuéjiǎng ) is one of the highest literary prizes in the Chinese literary world. It was donated in 1982 in memory of Mao Dun , who died the year before , and is awarded by the Chinese Writers' Association for outstanding novels . The endowment of the award corresponded to the last will of Mao Dun, who donated 250,000 yuan for a literature award to promote the Chinese novel. The prize is awarded for works that have been written by Chinese authors, published and published in the PRC and have a minimum length of 13,000 characters. It was initially awarded every three years, now every four years.
