History and architecture
The lighthouse was built in 1931. The decision to build this and another tower on Värtagrundet was made on January 27, 1931. Commissioning took place on July 6, 1931.

The equipment is still original from the construction period and is based on the method of the engineer Gustav Dalén , for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1912 . Libertas fyr is one of the last lighthouses of this type to have been preserved in its original state. On September 25, 1995, the tower was placed under monument protection as Byggnadsminne .
