Liberty Bell
Liberty Bell ( English for Liberty Bell is) the name of the bell , which was rung as the American Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia was read on July 8, 1776 for the first time on the Independence Square (Independence Square) in public. As an icon of independence, the bell has always served as the US national symbol .

The bell was cast in London by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Pennsylvania Charter on Religious Freedom in 1752 and hung in the State House (now Independence Hall ) in 1753 . Before it was hung, a crack was discovered in it, whereupon it was re-cast by two Philadelphia craftsmen, John Stow and John Pass.
The bell bears the inscription: Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the incomes thereof (“Proclaim freedom throughout the land for all its inhabitants”; cf. Lev 25,10 EU ).
The special thing about the bell is a crack in the sound body, which runs over half the height of the bell and makes it inoperable. When exactly this jump occurred is still unclear, just as many of the stories about the bell are insufficiently documented and rather anecdotal . It is only known that it was created between the years 1817 and 1846. According to a historically controversial report, the bell struck for the last time in 1846 on George Washington's birthday , and the crack is said to have enlarged beyond repair.
Today, the bell hangs in the Liberty Bell Pavilion, part of Philadelphia's Independence National Historical Park , and is still considered an important American symbol of freedom and democracy. Entry to the pavilion is free. The history of the bell has been translated into several languages, including German.
The Liberty Bell is one as part of the Independence Hall to the World Heritage of UNESCO .

After this bell, John Philip Sousa named his famous march The Liberty Bell , which also became known as the cover story of the series Monty Python's Flying Circus . The mountain group Liberty Bell Mountain was also named after the bell in the state of Washington in the northern Cascade Mountains .
In 1961 the Liberty Bell 7 ( Mercury-Redstone 4 ) spacecraft landed in the Atlantic after the second US manned space flight, a short suborbital space flight .
Inspired by the Liberty Bell, the Liberty Bell was created in Berlin .
There is also a replica of the Liberty Bell in the Liberty Bell Garden in Jerusalem . This was donated to the State of Israel in 1976 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the USA by the city of Philadelphia.
On April 1, 1996, the fast food chain Taco Bell published an April Fool's joke by claiming in an advertisement that it had purchased the Liberty Bell and that it was now planning to rename it the Taco Liberty Bell . After it was dissolved, Taco Bell donated $ 50,000 to maintain the bell. Overall, the company benefited as they received $ 25 million worth of advertising from international coverage. The April Fool's joke is now considered one of the most successful and in the Museum of Hoaxes it ranks 7th in the Top 100.
