O'Brien Trophy
The O'Brien Trophy was an ice hockey trophy that was awarded from 1910 to 1917 in the National Hockey Association and from 1918 to 1950 in the successor to the National Hockey League . It was donated by the Canadian Senator J. O'Brien and named after his son J. Ambrose O'Brien.
From 1928 the trophy - as a counterpart to the Prince of Wales Trophy received by the American Division winner - was awarded to the Canadian Division winner . From 1939, when the NHL was reunited into a single division, the finalist for the Stanley Cup received the trophy until it was finally awarded for the last time in 1950.
