American Division
The American Division was next to the Canadian Division one of two divisions in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL .
With the expansion of the league in 1926, it was decided to split the NHL into two divisions, after the 1937/38 season the league was once again played on a single track. During the time of the division, all US teams played in the American Division , while all Canadian franchises were based in the Canadien Division .
