Norris Division

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Norris Division was one of the divisions in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL . The league was divided into two Conferences ( Campbell Conference and Prince of Wales Conference ) until 1993 , which in turn were divided into divisions. One of these was the Norris Division, which was formed in 1974 as part of the Prince of Wales Conference and moved to the Clarence Campbell Conference in 1981.

With the expansion of the league in 1993 and the subsequent reform of the league system, the division was replaced by the Central Division .

The Norris Division was named after James E. Norris , the former owner of the Detroit Red Wings . The Montréal Canadiens are the record champions of the Norris Division with seven championship titles at the end of the regular season.
