Eastern Division (NHL)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eastern Division was next to the Western Division one of two divisions in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL .

With the expansion of the league in 1967 and the subsequent reform of the league system, it was decided to split the NHL into two divisions, after a renewed increase in the league in 1974 , the two-division system was abolished and with the Campbell and the Prince of Wales Conference introduced two conferences, each with two subordinate divisions.

The division's name was derived from the geographical location of the teams that played in it, i.e. This means that the teams that were based in the east of North America played in the Eastern Division.
