NHL General Manager of the Year Award
The NHL General Manager of the Year Award is a National Hockey League ice hockey award . It has been awarded annually since 2010 to the general manager of a franchise who has proven to be the most capable over the course of the respective season. The election will take place among the league's 30 general managers.
A 40-person committee, consisting of these 30 managers and 5 representatives each from the NHL and the media, decides on the awarding of the award.
The first winner of the award was Don Maloney of the Phoenix Coyotes , who came out on top against George McPhee of the Washington Capitals and David Poile of the Nashville Predators in the final selection .
