NHL Awards 2013

The 2013 NHL Awards are ice hockey honors for the 2012/13 NHL season and were presented in Chicago on June 14th and 15th .

Due to the lockout , which delayed the start of the season until January 2013, the awards show in Las Vegas was canceled and the awards were instead given before the second game of the final series of the Stanley Cup in front of the United Center in Chicago. The award-winning players were usually only added by phone. The nominations for the individual awards were published between May 6th and 20th.

Hart Memorial Trophy Awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Season by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association

Vezina Trophy Awarded to the outstanding goalkeeper of the season by the general managers of the teams

James Norris Memorial Trophy Awarded by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association to the defender who demonstrated the most all-round skill in this position of the season

Frank J. Selke Trophy Awarded to the attacker with the best defensive skills by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association

Calder Memorial Trophy Awarded by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association to the player who is considered to be the most capable in his freshman year

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy Awarded by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association to the player who excelled through a high standard of sport and fair behavior

Jack Adams Award Awarded by the NHL Broadcasters' Association to the coach who contributed most to the success of his team

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy Awarded by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association to the player who showed perseverance, dedication, and fairness in and around ice hockey

Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy Awarded to the top scorer in the league

William M. Jennings Trophy Awarded to the goalkeeper (s) who have made at least 25 appearances and whose team has conceded the fewest goals in the season

NHL Plus / Minus Award Awarded to the player who has the best plus / minus statistics during the season


Mark Messier Leadership Award Is given to the player who has distinguished himself through special leadership qualities during the season

NHL Foundation Player Award Awarded to the player who has made a special contribution to charitable causes in society
