1999 NHL Awards
The 1999 NHL Awards are ice hockey honors and were presented in June 1999 .
Jaromír Jágr was the big winner, as he was recognized as the most valuable and also the best player, plus the trophy as the best scorer. His Czech compatriot Dominik Hašek received the award for the best goalkeeper in the NHL for the fifth time and Jere Lehtinen won the trophy as the best defensive striker, as in the previous year. For the first time, a prize was awarded to the best goalscorer of the season, which went to Teemu Selänne . Ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky , who had set several almost unattainable records in the course of his career, was once again named the fairest player at the end of his career. It was the fifth time that he received this trophy.
