2006 NHL Awards
The 2006 NHL Awards are ice hockey honors and were presented on June 22, 2006 in Vancouver .
Joe Thornton , who moved from Boston to San Jose during the season , was named Most Valuable Player and Best Scorer. No other player who switched teams during the season had previously achieved this. Jaromír Jágr was voted best player for the third time by his league colleagues and Nicklas Lidström received his fourth trophy as best defender. With Miikka Kiprusoff a Finn was named best goalkeeper for the first time. The German goalkeeper Olaf Kölzig was honored for his social commitment especially in the research of autism and the treatment of autistic children.
