2002 NHL Awards
The 2002 NHL Awards are ice hockey honors and were presented in Toronto in June 2002 .
The big winners of the NHL Awards of the 2001-02 season were the goalie Montreal Canadiens Jose Theodore and Jarome Iginla , winger of the Calgary Flames . Theodore was named MVP and the best goalkeeper of the season, and he also received the award for the best catch quota. Iginla was voted best player of the year by the players of the NHL and was allowed to receive the trophies as the best scorer and goalscorer. Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings was honored for the second consecutive year as the best defender after he was already elected MVP of the playoffs. Ron Francis of the Carolina Hurricanes has also received two awards. He received the trophy for fair behavior in combination with outstanding performance and the award for his leadership skills and social commitment. Goalkeeper legend Patrick Roy received the award for the fewest goals conceded for the fifth time in his career.
