Craig Michael Conroy (born September 4, 1971 in Potsdam , New York ) is a former American ice hockey player and current official who played 1090 games for the Canadiens de Montréal , St. Louis between 1990 and 2011 Blues , Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League on the position of the center has denied. With the national team of the United States Conroy took part in the World Cup of Hockey 2004 and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

Career

As a junior he played for Clarkson University in the US college league ECAC Hockey, among others with Todd Marchant . The Canadiens de Montréal selected him in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round in 123rd position. In 1994 the Canadiens brought him to their farm team at the time , the Fredericton Canadiens in the American Hockey League .

In the 1994/95 season Conroy made his debut in the NHL and scored his first goal in his six appearances. In the coming year he was allowed to play seven more games for the Canadiens, but shortly after the beginning of the 1996/97 season he was given to the St. Louis Blues together with Pierre Turgeon . There he was only used briefly in the AHL at the Worcester IceCats and made his breakthrough in the NHL. In his first full season in St. Louis, he set a new record with 43 scorer points. This also earned him a nomination for the Frank J. Selke Trophy .

Towards the end of the 2000/01 season he was given in exchange for Cory Stillman to the Calgary Flames . With 73 points in the 2001/02 season , he was again a candidate for the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2002 , as he was the second best scorer of his team as a defensive attacker. He also became the team captain there. After the strike season he moved to the Los Angeles Kings , but after a year and a half, he returned to the Flames at the age of 35. After just 16 points in the first 52 games in LA, 21 points followed in 28 games with Calgary.

On February 4, 2011, Conroy announced his immediate retirement as an active player. He then worked at the Flames until summer 2014 as a special advisor to the General Manager . Since then he has been its full assistant and representative.

International

Conroy represented Team USA at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . After he had come to two pointless stakes at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004, Conroy rose to become a regular in Team USA at the 2006 Winter Olympics and scored five points in six games.
