The Independence Hall (English 'Hall of Independence'; originally Pennsylvania State House ) in Philadelphia is the former parliament building of the US state Pennsylvania , where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 and the Constitution of the United States in 1787 . The building is the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 because of its importance to US history .

The building was completed in 1741 under the name Pennsylvania State House and served as the seat of the government of Pennsylvania, then one of the thirteen British colonies in North America . The Liberty Bell was located in the bell tower of Independence Hall from 1753 to 1876.
In 1775 the Second Continental Congress met in Independence Hall and in 1776 there accepted the Declaration of Independence drawn up by Thomas Jefferson . This event led to what is now known as Independence Hall.
In 1787 the Philadelphia Convention met there , which drafted the constitution of the United States.
Independence Hall is depicted on the back of the US $ 100 banknote .
Registration as a world heritage site
Independence Hall was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites as a cultural heritage site in 1979 based on a decision by the third session of the World Heritage Committee.

It was in this beautiful early 18th century building in Philadelphia that the Declaration of Independence was passed and the United States Constitution was formulated. These events, which took place in 1776 and 1787 respectively, were only of national importance, but the universal principles of freedom and democracy set forth in these two documents have had a profound impact on lawmakers and political thinkers around the world. They became the model for similar charter of other nations and can be seen as harbingers of the modern age of government.

(vi): The universal principles of the right to revolution and self-government, as expressed in the Declaration of Independence of 1776 and the Constitution of 1787 of the United States of America, which were discussed, passed and signed in Independence Hall, have legislators and Lastingly influenced politicians around the world. The basic concepts, the format and also the essential elements of the two documents have influenced the government charter in many nations and even the Charter of the United Nations.

The films The Legacy of the Knights Templar (2004) and Shooter (2007) are set in Independence Hall, among others. In the first episode of the Netflix series Who Was ...? - The series plays the first sketch in the series in Independence Hall.
