Liborius (Marienfeld)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Liborius († October 5, 1214 ) was a priest and abbot of the Marienfeld Monastery , which is located in the East Westphalian town of Harsewinkel in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Liborius was initially confessor of the nuns in St. Aegidii in Münster. After Florentius von der Lippe resigned from the office of abbot in 1211, Liborius was elected as his successor by the convent. During his tenure, he bought a house in Nordhorn , the parish of Gütersloh and other goods from Konrad Grüben . After three years in office, he gave up and died in the autumn of 1214.

On his tombstone it said:

He soon rejected the office, he did good in a short time,
now Liborius lives with you, Christ.

Furthermore, one wrote about him:

He sent the moon back, did good in a poor time.
Now lifted up by Christ, Liborius lives there.
