Liburnia

Liburnia , in ancient times the coastal area of Illyria between Rijeka and the Neretva with the islands in front of it. The Liburnians , an Illyrian peoples spread south as far as Korčula , had gained a great reputation early on as seafarers, but also as pirates . Around the middle of the 2nd century they voluntarily submitted to the Romans . The main trading town of the country was Jader (today Zadar ), the meeting place of the Liburnian League Scardona , which consists of 14 cities . In 634 AD, at the invitation of Emperor Heraclius, the Chrovati ( Croats ) migrated from their seats in Galicia and southern Poland and made the country a Croatian .
