Libya TV is a television station that is supposed to provide more independent information about the new Libyan government compared to the Libyan government broadcaster . Libya TV was created during the civil war in Libya .

structure

The television station has its own correspondents in almost all Libyan cities and maintains other studios in Benghazi and London. The headquarters are in Doha in the emirate of Qatar . Libya TV has the facilities and the technical staff of the local channel Al-Rayyan from Doha.

history

Libya TV was founded in March 2011 and aired its first program on March 30, 2011. The Libyan journalist Mahmud Shammam is named as the founder . He has lived in exile for several years and has already worked for the Arabic version of Newsweek (news magazine). The station is mainly financed by sponsorship money from Libyans in exile. A Libyan businessman from London donated $ 250,000 to set up the station. In relation to the largely US-financed television station Al-Hurra , Libya TV is largely independent.
