Sweetheart swing you

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Liebchen schwing dich is a polka mazurka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 394). The work was performed for the first time on March 6, 1881 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta The Queen's Lace. The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 391 , 392 , 393 , and 406 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. This series also includes the waltz Roses from the South (op. 388). In this work, Strauss has used motifs from the second act of the operetta, the Queen's Song, and a theme from the introduction to the first act. The premiere took place as part of the so-called Carnival Revue on March 6, 1881 under the baton of Eduard Strauss .

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 3 minutes and 32 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
