Lieler ( Luxembourgish Léiler ) is a district of Clervaux , Canton of Clervaux , in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

Lieler is located southwest of the border triangle of Belgium , Germany and Luxembourg. The place is located in the northeast of the urban area. Neighboring towns are Lausdorn in the west, Weiswampach in the northwest and Ouren (Belgium) in the northeast.

General

Lieler is a rural village. The spelling of the place name has changed significantly over the centuries: 1535 Lelour; 1541, 1567, 1616 Lelar or Lelair; 1551 Leilar; 1588 Leler; 1605 lellar; 1621 Liler; 1631, 1664 Leller; 1656 Lehller; 1736, 1751 Lehler; 1755 Lieller; 1767, 1788 Lieler.

The European Monument and the Holy Cross Church are well worth seeing. The oldest part of the church is the choir tower from the 14th century. The nave was built between 1849 and 1850.
