history
Munshausen was first mentioned in 839 as Muniheistati . Since 986 the place formed a parish with Hosingen, whereby the Munshausener church also served as the parish church for Clervaux. Accordingly, the Count of Clervaux had Clerwer Kapell , so the chapel of those buried Clervaux, which is part of the Munshausener church. In administrative terms, the following places used to belong to the municipality: Munshausen, Siebenaler, Marnach, Roder, Neidhausen, Reuler and Urspelt. In 1813 Neidhausen was annexed to Hosingen, in 1823 Reuler and Urspelt to Clervaux. For this, the place Drauffelt was attached to Munshausen.
Munshausen had 574 inhabitants in 1850, a peak was reached in 1880 with 1,128 inhabitants, after which the number was drastically reduced due to rural exodus until 1981, when it reached a low of 563 inhabitants. In April 2007 the mark of 1,000 inhabitants was exceeded again.
