Heinerscheid ( Luxembourgish Héinischt, Hengescht ) is a town in the Luxembourgish municipality of Clervaux . Until the end of 2011, Heinerscheid was the capital of the municipality of the same name, which belonged to the canton of Clervaux . On December 5, 2011, the municipality of Heinerscheid was merged with the municipalities of Munshausen and Clervaux to form a new municipality, which was named Clervaux.

history
During the Second World War , the area around Heinerscheid was the theater of the Ardennes offensive . The community at that time, like neighboring communities, had many victims from the population to mourn. Nowadays there is still an old bunker ditch in the Heinerscheid Ourtal , as well as a war memorial in the center of Heinerscheid.
politics
On January 1, 2012, the municipal merger of the municipalities of Clerf , Munshausen and Heinerscheid came into force. The majority of the population voted in favor of the municipal merger on October 12, 2008 in a referendum .
The former municipality was a member of the regional associations DEA, old people's home Clervaux, SIGI, SYVICOL, SIERS, SIDEN, SIDEC, SICLER, SIVOUR and the Our Nature Park .

Old cultural treasures
The ruins of the old church between Heinerscheid and Hüpperdingen have housed a modern work of art since 2004 as part of "jardins ... à suivre".
