Lifetime is an American , melodic hardcore band from New Jersey .

history

The band was founded in 1990 by Ari Katz and Dan Yemin, both of whom came from the New Jersey / New York hardcore scene. At first they played in a frequently changing line-up. In contrast to the aggressive and violent tone of the New York scene at the time, Katz formulated more positive personal topics in his texts. In 1992 the group released their debut album with Background .

By 1995, Pete Martin, David Palaitis and Scott Golley had become a permanent fixture. With them the second album was recorded, which was released in the same year by Jade Tree Records . With Hello Bastards there was a clear development towards Melodic Hardcore . The cover song It's Not Funny Anymore , originally by Hüsker Dü , contained a clear reference to the musical influences on the album.

In 1996 a compilation of their singles and previously unreleased songs was released. A year later, the band's third work was released. Jersey's Best Dancers includes 12 songs in less than 24 minutes of playing time. After a short tour, however, the group broke up. While Yemin became a member of Kid Dynamite and Paint It Black , Palaitis and Katz formed Zero Zero .

In August 2005 there were three charity reunion concerts in Philadelphia and New Jersey. The proceeds went to various charitable institutions. On November 17th, the band announced that they had finally reunited. In March 2006 Lifetime signed a record deal with Decaydance Records .
