The Ligerztunnel is a planned railway tunnel at the southern foot of the Jura in Switzerland. The last single-lane section of the southern Jura foot line is to be eliminated through the double-lane tunnel . This bottleneck between the service station Chavannes (dt. Schafis ) and Twann (fr. Douanne) on the Biel - Neuchâtel line is currently preventing the consolidation of rail traffic. The planned costs are between CHF 380 and 420 million .

The tunnel is part of the Bahn 2030 project and should be completed by 2025. The tunnel will enable a continuous half-hourly service on the route.

It will run on the lake side and largely parallel to the existing motorway tunnel on main road number 5, which forms the Ligerz bypass.

The Twann train station is to be modernized. The previous Ligerz stop will be canceled and replaced by a bus line. This is intended to open up the village of Ligerz and the Ligerz-Tessenberg railway from Twann , an extension of the future bus line to La Neuveville is also under discussion .

The financing for the construction of the Ligerz tunnel is provided by the new railway infrastructure fund (BIF), which the Swiss electorate accepted on February 9, 2014 with the FABI proposal .
