Lights and Sounds is the fifth studio album of American alternative rock - band Yellowcard . It was released under the Capitol Records label and contains 14 tracks.
The originally planned release date was fall 2005, but ultimately Lights and Sounds was not released until January 24, 2006 . A “bonus version” of the album released at the same time also contains a DVD with documentations about the band and the creation of the album as well as the video clip of the title track “ Lights and Sounds ”.
As the follow-up to the award-winning Ocean Avenue (2003), the album had high expectations. However, the album did not do justice to these, which also had an impact on the sales figures: Compared to 2 million sales of the previous album, Lights and Sounds only sold about 420,000 sales. Even so, Yellowcard has never released an album that sold so many times - around 90,000 copies - in the first week of release. However, the sales figures quickly ebbed away.
Two singles were released from the album : Lights and Sounds as the title track and Rough Landing, Holly .
Two bonus tracks were released for the album: Three Flights Down , as a supplement to the intro Three Flights Up , which is only available on iTunes and the Japanese versions of the album, and Down on My Head in the acoustic version , which is only available at Walmart .
Chart placements
The album immediately reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 charts and achieved the highest US chart position of all Yellowcard albums. The album also had the best Yellowcard debut in Canada : Lights and Sounds was placed at position 4 on the Canadian album charts. In Japan the album even reached number 1. In Australia the album was ranked 6th and in New Zealand 11th. In Germany , however, the album was a failure .
