Lilian Braithwaite
Lilian Braithwaite (born March 9, 1873 in Ramsgate , England , † September 17, 1948 in London ) was an English actress .
life and career
In addition to her work as a theater actress , she also starred in several silent films in the 1920s . The best known of these films is certainly Alfred Hitchcock's film Downward (1927).
In 1943 she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and thus raised to the nobility . From her 1905 divorced marriage with the actor Gerald Lawrence came the daughter Joyce Carey , who also worked as an actress.
