Lim Yong-kyu ( Korean 임용규; born June 18, 1991 in Andong ) is a South Korean tennis player .

Career

Lim Yong-kyu was able to celebrate his first minor successes on the Junior Tour by winning the 2007 Asian Closed Junior Tennis Championships and the Korea International Junior Championships in doubles. His best combined ranking comes from this year with a 49th place.

On the professional tour he played his first tournaments on the third-class ITF Future Tour in 2006 at the age of 15 and was able to celebrate his first success in doubles there two years later. He was able to win a total of eleven single and double titles on the Future Tour. He achieved his greatest success on the ATP Challenger Tour in Busan . He received a wildcard for both the single and the double field. While he failed in the quarterfinals in doubles, he was able to play his way to the final in singles without losing a set. There he met second seeded Lu Yen-hsun , who at the time was 91st in the world rankings . Lim was able to continue his convincing performances from the rounds before and clearly prevailed 6: 1, 6: 4. He could not repeat this success, he only managed to reach the semi-finals. In doubles he has not yet been able to celebrate any tournament successes, he only made two finals, which he lost both.

In 2009 Lim made his debut for the South Korean Davis Cup team in the quarter-finals against Uzbekistan. He has a single balance of 11: 8 and a double balance of 4: 6. In both singles and doubles, he never made it into the top 200 in the world rankings and has a 257th place and a 212th place in doubles from 2014 as the best single placement.
