The North African sea lavender is a biennial or perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 30 centimeters. The flower stalks are not or only weakly winged. The wings are up to 1 millimeter wide. The calyx tube is hairy. The calyx rim is yellow.

The flowering period extends from August to October.

Occurrence

The North African sea lavender occurs in northern Spain , northwest Africa and Libya in dry locations.

The North African sea lavender is rarely used as an ornamental plant for summer borders or as cut and dried flowers. The species has been in culture since 1859 at the latest.
