Limonium echioides is a species of sea lavender ( Limonium ) inthe leadwort family (Plumbaginaceae).
features
Limonium echioides is an annual rosette therophyte that reaches heights of 5 to 30 centimeters. The stem is finely warty. The leaves measure 15 to 45 × 8 to 14 millimeters. They are wedge-shaped to spatulate, rounded to blunt and have no spike tip.
The spikelets are more or less straight. The ears are (20) 40 to 140 (190) millimeters in size. The calyx nerves emerge in a distinct, hook-shaped awn. The crown is pink.
The flowering period extends from April to July.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
Occurrence
Limonium echioides occurs in the Mediterranean area. The species grows on sandy and rocky coasts, dry pioneer sites and steppe lawns at altitudes of 0 to 350 meters.
