Dorothea Frigo

Dorothea Frigo (born February 20, 1949 in Burk , Ansbach district ) is a German sculptress .

Life

From 1977 to 1983 Frigo studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 1994 she received a scholarship there , in 1995 one at the Goethe Institute in Hyderabad and in 1997 another at the Prinzregent Luitpold Foundation in Munich. From 2001 to 2002 she was artist in residence at the Goethe-Institut in Jakarta . Frigo lives in Munich.

Her work includes installation art , object art as well as art in buildings and in public spaces. Frigo's works can be seen at numerous important exhibition venues, including in 1989 at the Art History Institute of the University of Bonn, 1996 in the State Painting Collection in Munich and in 2002 in the Great Art Exhibition in the Haus der Kunst (Munich) . Some of her works are in public collections, including the Bavarian State Painting Collection and the collection of the Research and Competence Center of SKW Trostberg and Degussa. Her works in public space include the Golden Cage from 1990 on the Ulm University's Art Trail and the installation Lichtgewicht from 2008 in the Fürstenfeld Monastery . In 2012, the installation Gate of Remembrance , consisting of 22 transparent cubes, was shown in Hanau's Johanniskirche .
