Dr. Theobald Simon Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dr. Theobald Simon Prize was donated from 1988 to 2019 by Bonn art lover and patron Gabriele Vossebein (1935–2019) as a GEDOK art prize in memory of her father Theobald Simon (brewer, 1906–1978). After completing his training as a brewer and businessman, he took over the sole management of the Bitburger brewery and, in addition to his business activities, was also a member of the district council and city councilor on a local political and social level.

According to their own statements, highly qualified GEDOK artists were awarded this nationwide award for fine arts. It was awarded annually in alternation with the BundesGEDOK and the GEDOK Bonn . The prize was endowed with € 5,000 and combined with a donation of € 500 to the Kunstmuseum Bonn as well as documentation.
