The Limpertshöhe is a 308 m high, completely wooded elevation and is located in the Böller forest , in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

The mountain is part of the corridor of the village of Sallmannshausen . The closest settlement is the hamlet of Lutzberg, about 1.9 kilometers south .

The family name Limpert is quite common in the Gerstungen Werra Valley, so a reference to the legend of the murder of the humped meat messenger Limpert der Brandenburg, who is remembered with the Limpertstein in Gerstungen, is unlikely.

During the GDR era, the forest area was inaccessible and was used by a military firing range for the GDR border troops. After the fall of the Wall, the historical course of the Sallmannshausen Rennsteig was reconstructed as a regional hiking trail (label S ). With the help of the Thuringian Forestry Office Gerstungen-Marksuhl, several shelters and rest areas were created. The source stream Limpertsgraben rises at the Limpertshöhe and, after a short run, flows into the Werra from the right .
