Lin Yao Ji

Lin Yao Ji (* 1937 in Guangzhou , † March 16, 2009 in Beijing ) was a Chinese violinist and professor at the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing.

Life

Yao Ji received his first instructions on how to play the violin at the age of 13 from music teachers in Guangzhou. He then took up studies at the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing and in 1960 moved to the Moscow Conservatory of Music for the same purpose under Juri Issajewitsch Jankelewitsch . After completing his studies in Moscow, he returned to the Music Conservatory in Beijing in 1962, and from then on gave violin lessons as a university teacher. As a result of the Cultural Revolution in 1970, he had to spend two years in a re-education camp . After the re-establishment of the Music Conservatory in Beijing in the mid-1970s, he resumed teaching. Many students who have passed through Lin's school achieved high prices in their later careers and became successful soloists or concert violinists in famous orchestras. Professor Lin Yao Ji himself has often acted as a judge at prestigious international violin competitions and was also a member of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People . He is the namesake of the Lin Yao Ji Music Foundation of China .
