Lina Allemano

Lina Allemano (born October 20, 1979 ) is a Canadian jazz and improvisation musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Live and act

Allemano started playing the trumpet at the age of ten; She received her first instruction from her father (who also introduced her to jazz) and at the age of twelve she took classical lessons. She played her first club concerts when she was 15 years old. In 1993 she moved to Toronto from Edmonton to study , where she has lived ever since. There she quickly became part of the local scene, but also performed with Howard Johnson , Don Byron , Dave Holland , Mike Murley and Joe Lovano . Allemano leads her quartet Lina Allemano Four , with whom she plays free jazz and has released four albums. Prizes and awards

In 2005 Allemano received National Jazz Awards in Canada as "Trumpeter of the Year" and "Rising Star". In the same year she was nominated for the Canadian Independent Music Awards as "Famous Jazz Artist".
