David Hilzendegen from laut.de wrote that, to be honest, “no one” has been waiting for The Bridge (Concept of a Culture) . He doubted the need for a new Grandmaster Flash album. He has well-known feature guests on his album, some of whom he praised, but there are no surprises and so “everything is as it was”. While Hilzendegen on the one hand praised Flash's work as a producer and described the beats as "sophisticated" and "perfectly produced", he criticized the lack of innovation in his opinion, and Flash's work also sounded "almost old-fashioned" and like "been there before" . Finally, he dubbed Grandmaster Flash “Oldschool Grandmaster”, who, due to his outdated sounding music, did not manage to make a name for himself in today's hip-hop scene.

Allmusic's David Jeffries wrote that Flash would disappoint “hip-hop purists” with party songs like Swagger and Grown & Sexy . Even if there is often historical reference and some lyrics are refined, Flash with The Bridge (Concept of a Culture) would be more important to the "Golden Age Block Party" times in a modern guise. The album is surprisingly clever and never disappointing, overall, The Bridge (Concept of a Culture) is a success. The comeback of Grandmaster Flash is also gratifying, even if he is not in top form.
