The house Lindenallee 25 is a listed building in the old town of Wernigerode , Harz district , in Saxony-Anhalt . It is a building that was formerly used as the residence of the Fürstlich-Stolberg-Wernigerödischen chief forester, which is now used for public administration purposes.

The building is located at the southeast end of Wernigerode's city center, directly below Wernigerode Castle , on Lindenallee , directly across from the eagle monument and the Lustgarten wall .

Architecture and history

It is a three-story building, which was built in the lower area in massive brick construction and in the first and second floors with half-timbered elements. The gables and bay windows on the opposite sides of the house are striking.

According to the year on the front of the building, the house was built in 1876, that is, under the government of Count Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode .

Until the renumbering in 1937, the house had the address Lindenallee 33 .

In 1934 the building was divided into two apartments, one of which the director Hans Schmidt and his family from Halle (Saale) moved into. In 1935 the Schmidt family moved to their own house in Derenburg. Senior Secretary Lange lived in the second apartment in this house.

From 1935 on, the district doctor, Medical Councilor Dr. Fehsenfeld. This was briefly deployed in Dessau, Anhalt, in 1937 and 1938, but then returned to Wernigerode.

During the bombing raid on Wernigerode in February 1944, the roof of the building was badly damaged and then only poorly repaired. In September 1945 the property was expropriated and in the following year one of the tenants had to vacate the building as part of the political streamlining .

The use of the house for public administrative purposes began, which continues today.

In the local register of monuments the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 25046.
