Lindenthal Institute
The Lindenthal Institute is a private scientific institute founded in 1973 and based in Cologne . The Lindenthal Foundation has been responsible for the institute since 2001.
Objective and work areas
The institute is dedicated to interdisciplinary research, especially in the following areas:
- Culture of work (including business ethics )
- Ethics (especially ethics in medicine, bioethics )
- Knowledge theory (as opposed to natural and human sciences)
- Family, demographics, family politics
Current activities include the organization of expert discussions, specialist conferences and international colloquia as well as book publications. In addition, employees and contributors publish books under their own names with the support of the work.
At the request of interested parties, the institute also organizes seminars and working groups for doctors, media professionals, managers in companies and students, in which topics from the institute's areas of work are conveyed and deepened.
Since the 2018/19 winter semester, the institute has been offering a one-semester orientation course under the name Gap.Cologne [www.gap.cologne], which consists of a general course in the humanities and a parallel study and professional orientation. The lecturers are employees of the institute and visiting professors from Germany and abroad. The cooperation partner is the University of Navarra .

Founding director is the doctor Hans Thomas , who worked for many years in the management of Opus Dei and was still perceived as the most important leader of the organization in Germany at the beginning of the 1990s. As a prominent member, Thomas appears in church and secular media as well as on the publication platforms of the personal prelature and protects the secret organization against allegations. He was also on the board of the German section of the papal aid organization Church in Need , headed the Rhine-Danube Foundation in Munich and was President of the Limmat Foundation in Zurich .
