Herwig Birg

Herwig Birg (born January 4, 1939 in Novi Kozarci (German: Heufeld), Banat , Yugoslavia , today Serbia ) is a German population scientist .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1959, he first studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart and at the Ulm School of Design . From 1962 Herwig Birg took a study of economics at the Free University of Berlin on. In 1970 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. at the Free University of Berlin.

From the late 1960s to the early 1980s, Herwig Birg worked as a researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin as well as teaching at Berlin universities and colleges.

From 1981 to 2004 he held a chair for population science at Bielefeld University , where he was managing director of the Institute for Population Research and Social Policy (IBS).

Since 2004 - in addition to his wide-ranging lecturing activities - he has been researching and advising various clients. He is a member of the Munich Finance Forum eV

Herwig Birg has been with Ursula Birg, geb. Gorr, married.
