Lindsay William Cocks (born May 31, 1934 in Brunswick , † September 6, 1955 in Avallon ) was an Australian track cyclist .
In 1954 Lindsay Cocks was three-time Australian champion, over one and over five miles and in the sprint . In the five-mile race, he beat Olympic champion Lionel Cox . On the same day that he became sprint champion, he finished second in the Australian road championship for amateurs . In the same year he started at the Commonwealth Games in Vancouver in three track disciplines, in the sprint , 1000-meter time trial and over ten miles. He won the gold medal over ten miles and finished eighth in the time trial.
The following year, Cocks took part in the World Railroad Championships in Milan. Its placement there is unknown. On the way back, the car in which Cocks was sitting as a passenger next to his British sports colleague Cyril Peacock collided head-on with another car. He was seriously injured in the accident near the village of Sainte-Magnance and died the next day in Avallon hospital. He was 21 years old.
His former club, the Brunswick Cycling Club , organizes the Lindsay Cocks Memorial Wheel Race .
