Lindsey Benson Hunter Jr. (born December 3, 1970 in Utica , Mississippi ) is a retired American basketball player and current coach. He has won the NBA championship twice.

High school / college career

Hunter played for the Murrah High School team in Jackson and for the Tigers , the Jackson State University basketball team .

National Basketball Association

Hunter was selected as the 10th pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 1993 NBA Draft and also spent most of his career in Detroit. In his first season there, Hunter was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team .

After seven years with the Pistons, he went to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange with Billy Owens in 2000 , where he only played one season before moving to Los Angeles in 2001 for the Lakers . With the Lakers, Hunter won his first NBA title in 2002, but went to the Toronto Raptors after the season . In 2003 he signed again with the Pistons and was traded to the Boston Celtics in February 2004 , for which he did not play a game. After ten days Hunter was again committed by Detroit and won his second NBA championship with the team in the 2003/04 season.

On November 13, 2008, Hunter signed a contract with the Chicago Bulls that guaranteed him the minimum salary for players with at least ten years of NBA experience.

After retiring from his career, Hunter moved to the extended coaching staff of the Phoenix Suns in 2012 . There he was responsible for the scouting of new players and was responsible for the individual training of the players. In January 2013, Hunter became interim head coach for the Suns after the club split from previous head coach Alvin Gentry .

In the 2013-14 season Hunter was an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors.
