The Lingenauer Hochbrücke is a reinforced concrete arch bridge that connects the village of Lingenau and the Alberschwender district of Müselbach in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg .

The 370 m long bridge is one of the largest reinforced concrete arch bridges in Central Europe. It spans the Bregenzer Ach at a height of 90 m with an arch span of 210 m. The two-hinged arch has an arrow height of 45 m. It consists of a two-cell, 6.60 m wide and 3.80 m high box girder on which the 10.30 m wide girder is elevated.

history

This arch bridge was built from 1964 to 1968 according to plans by Franz Aigner . When it opened in 1969, it was the seventh largest bridge of its kind in the world.

The high bridge replaced the winding old road that descends steeply into the Achtal. When it was completed, the Hittisauer Straße (L 205) above it was completed. This gave the Vordere Bregenzerwald between the terraces of Müselbach and Lingenau a modern connection to the Bregenzerwaldstraße (L 200).

In 1992 the Lingenau high bridge was completely renovated and given a new railing. Due to the large number of people who put their lives to an end by jumping off the bridge, a grid on both sides was attached to the bridge in 2011 to prevent future suicides .
