Lingwulong is a genus of sauropod dinosaur fromthe Dicraeosauridae family . The only species in the genus is Lingwulong shenqi , which was discovered by a team of researchers in the Yanan Formation in Lingwu , People's Republic of China . Lingwulong is the only known diplodocoid that was found in East Asia. Lingwulong lived from the late Lower Jurassic to the early Middle Jurassic

history

The holotype of Lingwulong shenqi consists of a part of the skull, from the skull , skull and occiput are obtained, as well as from some of the associated teeth.

In total, the remains of about 8-10 specimens were found, from which a largely complete skeleton could be reconstructed.

etymology

Lingwulong shenqi was named after the place where it was found Lingwu, the word long from Mandarin , which means dragon , and shenqi , which means something surprising .
