The line 7 (span. Linea 7 , short L-7) is a subway -line of Metro Madrid . It leads from Pitis to Las Musas , is 32.9 kilometers long and has 30 stations. The average station spacing is 1.10 km, the length of the stations 115 meters. The L-7 is the first line to be built in large profile . It runs completely underground. You can change to other metro lines at five stations, and at one station to the Cercanías suburban railway .

history

On July 17, 1974, the section between Las Musas and Pueblo Nuevo was opened . Because the delivery of class 5000 trains was delayed, small-profile class 1000 trains ran on the first large-profile line for a few months . In order to bridge the gap between the platform edge and the train doors, running boards were installed. From May 17, 1975, the L-7 ran via Pueblo Nuevo to Avenida de América station .

The L-7 was a rather isolated radial line in the east of the city, far from the city center, for more than twenty years. Another disadvantage was the poorly designed transfer connections in the Avenida de América station with long pedestrian tunnels, so that the demand was rather low compared to other lines.

This changed the mid-1990s, prolonged than the L-7 in several stages two and a half times, and the most important East-West diameter line was expanded. The first section between Avenida de América and Gregorio Marañón went into operation on March 13, 1998, and from October 16, 1998 it continued to Canal . The third section to Valdezarza was opened on February 12, 1999. With the opening of the last section to Pitis , the L-7 had reached its northwestern end point on March 29, 1999.

The Arroyo del Fresno station, located between Lacoma and Pitis , is already in the shell . However, it has not yet been opened because the surrounding area is only sparsely built over.

On May 5, 2007, the L-7 was extended by 12.2 kilometers eastwards to the suburb of San Fernando de Henares . Because the area east of the city limits is not yet completely built over and therefore even lower frequencies are to be expected, only 3-car trains with a larger interval will run on this section for the time being. At Estadio Olímpico, passengers have to change to line 7b until the expected higher number of passengers justifies continuous operation. The final stop Hospital del Henares was inaugurated on February 7, 2008.
