The left Elbe valleys stretch between Dresden and Meißen on the left side of the Elbe .

The valleys break through in this area the steep slope between Dresden Basin and Meissner highlands . Because of its peculiarity, the landscape is part of a landscape protection area . This also includes the Spaar Mountains on the right bank of the Elbe , which is closer to the landscape on the left bank of the Elbe than to its surroundings on the right bank of the Elbe. The largest of the valleys are Saubachtal , Zschonergrund , Eichhörnchengrund , Tännichtgrund , Regenbachtal and Prinzbachtal .

The valleys on the left Elbe belong mostly to the municipality of Klipphausen and, to a lesser extent, to the localities of Cossebaude and Mobschatz and the district of Cotta in the west of Dresden.
