Lino Aldani (born March 29, 1926 in San Cipriano Po , † January 30, 2009 in Pavia ) was an Italian writer who also published under the pseudonym N. L. Janda .

Life

Lino Aldani was a math teacher at a middle school in Rome and returned to his hometown in 1968, where he was mayor for several years.

In 1960 he published his first short stories in the magazine Oltre Il Cielo ( Beyond Heaven ) and in 1963 (with Massimo Lo Jacono and Giulio Raiola) founded Futuro , the first Italian science fiction magazine, which although not long in existence, was nevertheless influential and published for the first time texts in Italian by Adolfo Bioy Casares and J. Rodolfo Wilcock, among others . In the 1990s, Futuro was revived.

It wasn't until 1977 that Lino Aldani's first SF novel came out, followed by four more. His texts have been translated into numerous languages. The story "Gute Nacht, Sophie" was included by Franz Rottensteiner in the anthology "Blick vom Other Ufer", which was published in 1973 in the USA and 1977 in Germany.
