Lino Ziller

Lino Ziller (born September 27, 1908 in Revò , † April 17, 1975 in Bolzano ) was an Italian partisan and politician.

Ziller, who comes from the Non Valley , lived in Bozen from 1922. The father of eight children worked for an insurance company. Towards the end of the Second World War , he joined the Resistenza . As local president of the Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale , he headed the daily Alto Adige in the immediate post-war period . In 1948 he was elected mayor of Bolzano . He held this position until 1958. From 1960 to 1964, Ziller, who also spoke very good German , was a member of the Regional Council of Trentino-South Tyrol for the Democrazia Cristiana and thus also in the South Tyrolean state parliament . During this time he was regional councilor for finances and asset management in the Magnago I cabinet and a member of the South Tyrolean regional government .

Since 2013 a square in Bozen has been named after Lino Ziller.
