The Liscomb River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
The river has its origin in Big Liscomb Lake in the southeast of the Nova Scotia peninsula . The Liscomb River flows through the western part of Guysborough County . It initially flows in an easterly direction, later in a southerly direction. It flows through a number of smaller lakes, including Rush Lake , Hunting Lake and Ladle Lake . There are several rapids along the river. The Little Liscomb River flows into the river on the left. About 3 miles above the estuary, the river passes Big Stillwater . At Liscomb Mills , just before the confluence with Liscomb Harbor on the south coast of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Highway 7 crosses the Liscomb River. The river has a length of about 55 km. It drains an area of approximately 390 km². The mean discharge is just under 16 m³ / s.
The 29.7 km² Liscomb River Wilderness Area extends at the level of Big Stillwater along the east bank of the river.
Canoe tours are possible on the Liscomb River . Atlantic salmon and brook trout are found in the Liscomb River . The Liscomb River is also the habitat of the forest brook turtle .
