Lisi Maier

Elisabeth "Lisi" Maier (born May 18, 1984 ) is a German political scientist and teacher . She is the federal chairwoman of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) , the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR) and deputy chairwoman of the German Women's Council .

education and profession

Lisi Maier grew up in Irschenberg in Upper Bavaria . After graduating from secondary school in Miesbach, she completed an apprenticeship as a housekeeper until 2003 . Maier graduated from high school in 2005 and then studied political science, Catholic theology, sociology and economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Maier completed her studies in 2010. From 2010 to 2012 she completed her legal clerkship at various secondary schools.

Engagement in youth association work

At the age of 11 Maier became a member of the Kolping Youth . During her training and studies, Maier was involved at various levels of the Kolping Youth and the BDKJ. At first she was the Kolping Youth Diocesan Leader in the Diocesan Association of Munich and Freising, then the State Leader of the Kolping Youth in Bavaria.

In 2012 she applied for the office of full-time federal chairperson of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) and was elected to this office by the BDKJ general assembly. It was confirmed in 2015 and 2018. She runs the Berlin capital office of the BDKJ federal agency.

In 2012 she was also elected chairman by the general assembly of the German Youth Association. Since then she has held this position on a voluntary basis. In 2014 she was appointed to the Federal Youth Board of the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth . In 2019 Maier was appointed to the Council for Sustainable Development.

Memberships and volunteering

In addition to her offices in youth association work, Maier is also involved in other social areas. In 2008 she was elected to the Irschenberg municipal council. She resigned from her mandate in 2010 due to professional relocation and legal clerkship in Krumbach and Kaufbeuren. Since 2015 she has been chairwoman of the Federal Association for Catholic Youth Social Work and since 2016 deputy chairwoman of the German Women's Council . She is also a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) . In 2016 she joined the Catholic rural youth movement (KLJB) .
