Coordinates: 28 ° 49 ′ S , 153 ° 17 ′ E The City of Lismore is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 1,287.7 km² and has about 43,000 inhabitants.
Lismore is located in the extreme northeast of the state about 750 km northeast of the metropolis of Sydney and 200 km south of Brisbane . The area comprises 81 districts and villages, including Bexhill, The Channon, Corndale, Dunoon, Eltham, Lismore, Nimbin , Rock Valley, Rosebank, Wyrallah as well as Blue Knob, Booerie Creek, Buckendoon, Bungabee, Caniaba, Coffee Camp, Dorroughby, Dungarubba, Georgica, Goolmangar, Goonellabah, Green Forest, Gundarimba, Jiggi, Keerong, Kilgin, Koonorigan, Leycester, Modanville, Monaltrie, Mountaintop, Nightcap, North Woodburn, Numulgi, Richmond Hill, Ruthven, Terania Creek, Tregeagle, Tucki Tucki, Tuckurimba , Tuntable Creek, Whian Whian, Woodlawn, and parts of Bentley, Booyong, Broadwater, Coraki, Clunes, Larnook, Marom Creek, McKees Hill, Repentance Creek, Stony Chute and Wollongbar. The seat of the City Council is in the Gooneballah district of the city of Lismore , which has around 27,600 inhabitants.

The Lismore City Council has twelve members. Eleven councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are directly elected by the residents of the LGA. Lismore is not divided into districts.
