In the list of architectural monuments in Gilten , all listed buildings of the Lower Saxon community of Gilten ( district of Heidekreis ) are listed. The list was as of 2001.
General
Gilten was first mentioned in 1242. The place and with it the parish belonged to the diocese of Minden. During the 14th century, part of the parish was given to the Walsrode monastery. At the beginning of the 20th century the railway line from Verden to Schwarmstedt was built; it was shut down in 1988. Potash salt was mined in Gilten between 1911 and 1928. In 1848 there were 43 houses in the village and three farms suitable for state parliament. After the Second World War, Gilten grew to around 400 inhabitants; today the place has almost 1200 inhabitants.
