List of CANDU reactors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the list of CANDU reactors all CANDU reactors worldwide are listed. Some of them are located in Canada, but have also been exported to many different countries.

Reactors in operation are color- coded.

Locations of the first CANDU reactors

The first CANDU reactors (prototypes) were developed by Canada between 1960 and 1967.

Locations 1st stage of development

The first stage reactors are the first in the 600 MW class. They were built for the first time in Pickering . During this time another series was developed. But this is unique worldwide until now. Generation 1 reactors were built from 1971 to 1986.

Locations 2nd stage of development

The reactors of the 2nd stage of development are more extensive than the older ones. These reactors already belong to the 700 MW class with the name Type 6.

Locations 3rd stage of development

The reactors of the 3rd stage of development belong to the 900 MW class. The 900 MW reactors were built from 1977 to 1979, the 915 MW from 1984 to 1987 and the 935 MW from 1990 to 1993. In addition, a modernized version of the CANDU-6 was used in Qinshan to design a new series.
